Weekend courses are a popular choice for busy executives who do not have time in their weekday schedule, and also for smaller business owners looking to make the most of a weekend opportunity for self-development.

All courses begin at 09:30 prompt and end at 16:30 with an hour for lunch (lunch included). The course is intensive and leads you through the minefield of effective communication.

These workshops fill quickly, so ring early to avoid disappointment. Please contact Richard Johnson our weekend course coordinator on: 07703-166668 or by email richard@collegeofpublicspeaking.co.uk. If Richard's line is busy, please call back.

The College of Public Speaking donates a percentage of its profits to the Speakers Trust, a charity dedicated to the development of effective communication throughout all strands of society.

These popular 1 day presentation skills workshops are ideal for delegates looking to build their knowledge and insights into the world of communication. There are many barriers to effective communication and through relevant, entertaining and interactive exercises, we expose and underline them.

Our experienced instructors lead the facilitation and skills transfer by applying tried and trusted feedback techniques which are accurate and supportive of the delegate who may well be suffering from a serious bout of nerves.

Throughout the day, the self-esteem and self-confidence of the delegates is built incrementally so that by the end of the workshop, the newly found skills and self-confidence will resonate in all aspects of their business and personal lives.

One of the derivative benefits of our workshops is that our method of individual and group feedback builds empathy and support within the group which extends and endures far beyond the classroom. All companies require a mixture of individual, team and departmental commitment and our supportive feedback methodology provides a framework for lasting team spirit. This is an invaluable benefit to your organisation.
Objectives of our workshops:
  • Be introduced to the mechanics of effective communication
  • Learn how to structure a presentation
  • Learn how to develop and deliver material in a colourful and compelling way using anecdotes and case studies
  • Control nervousness (the build up of adrenaline) and turn natural apprehension into speaking courage
  • Communicate confidently to a group
What we cover:
  • Ice-breaker exercise
  • Understanding the requirements of your audience
  • The essence of audience rapport and how to achieve it
What is the purpose of the speech or presentation?
  • Inform, entertain, persuade, motivate?
  • Strengthening the voice and maintaining vocal impact
  • Understanding body language and its subconscious messages
  • Planning the presentation or speech

Structure:
  • Compelling introductions
  • Main body – the meat of the content
  • Conclusions with impact
Throughout the workshop, each delegate receives multiple opportunities to practice in front of the group in a number of real world speaking scenarios. Stay posted for more presentation skills training course dates in London and for other venues outside of London in the coming months.
