Hello Nick,

Many thanks indeed for the purple/blue rose I received for Eros day. Absolutely stunning.

My wife and daughter cannot believe just how beautiful a rose can be.

Thanks agai and I wish you every success.

Hello Joanna, Yes I used to work in this area of personal development long before I became interested in public speaking. I believe that there is an enormous cross-over of skills between public speaking and interviewing. For example, both require excellent preparation, body language, eye contact, facial expressions, confidence, presence as well as excellent vocal delivery of your answers. That is if you want to impress. Our techniques are incredibly successful and I'll be happy to discuss them with you should you require. Regards Vince

I am surprised to see you running Interviewing Skills on a Public Speaking web site. Should that not be left to the specialists?

Hello Sonia, we've worked with lots of people for whom English isn't their first language. London of course is a cosmopolitan city so we have lots of experience with working with people who are new to England. If you send me an email, I can send you some highly effective exercises to help with the voice and then offer you some further exercises to assist with the stress. Rgds Vince

Secondly, to err is human, to forgive is devine. We all make mistakes, and I believe that if feedback is given in a constructive and supportive manner, we can take that feedback onboard and subsequently improve.

That said, I thought the advice given by Alistair Campbell during the assignment and subsequent analyses of the speeches was first class.

Points noted, next time I see Alistair Campbell, I will discuss with him. Regards Vince

Hello Graham, thanks for your comments. Why were they chosen as mentors? Well, I accept that your observations do raise issues, but we do not know the full context of those sessions nor how and why they were edited like that. The folded arms could be construed as negative body language in certain contexts, however, it may well have been freezing in that hall in January/February.

Just watched the Speaker on BBC iplayer. Alistair Campbell starts off talking to the youngsters with his arms folded. Bad body language. The barrister starts talking to the youngsters half-perched on a table. Why were they chosen as mentors?

Hello Roger, many thanks for your comments. Yes, we are doing our best to stay on the theme of public speaking and trying to create a useful resource of blog answers, speaking related articles and transcripts of famous speeches. I hope that you'll stay with us. Please drop me an email should we stray off course. Regards Vince
